In my presentation I discuss selected artistic positions in Hybrid Art that critically question body and biopolitics. Can artistic and design-based projects create the skin as an interface and field of experimentation and propose the concept of wearables as prosthetic extensions? Can the possibilities of wearable technology expand the human relationships with their environments? What happens when artistic research integrates menstrual blood and critically questions the field of medical biotechnology, since menstrual blood is a valuable source of stem cells? How does artistic research look when the traditional conventional binary dichotomies of bodily health conditions of ‘diseased’ vs. ‘healthy’ are overcome? Selected artistic examples will give a vibrant insight into the newest 21C cutting-edge artistic research.
