The works of media artist Ornella Fieres show the world of yesterday as seen through the eyes of today's algorithms. Photographs and film from the 19th and 20th century are transferred to the present day using manipulated computing processes or artificial intelligence.
Fieres's multimedia installations have been exhibited internationally at The Centre Pompidou in Paris, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Goethe Institut Toronto, Literaturhaus Berlin, NurtureArt Gallery New York, Kunstverein Speyer and Fotografie Forum Frankfurt. She has given lectures and presentations at Volksbühne Berlin, Haus am Lützowplatz Berlin, Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach or at New Lab New York, where she had a research residency in 2017. She is currently pursuing her PhD in media science, focusing on research in AI.
