Since 2016 in partnerships with local investigative journalists, Nafisa has been investigating media ownership, regulation of transparency and concentration in the media markets of Ukraine, Turkey, Serbia, Albania, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and now Germany. Before joining GMR she worked for various think-tanks and development NGOs on EU policies in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and South Caucasus.
